Sticky trap type fly killer

When does the fly killer lamp need to be replaced?

The sticky trap type fly killer is one of our commonly used fly control equipment. Its working principle is that the lamp tube emits a specific wavelength of ultraviolet light to attract the flies to approach and use the sticky board to capture them. So as to achieve the effect of killing and monitoring.

Whether the fly killer is effective, in addition to the installation location and other factors, the quality of the tube is also a key factor, that is, the ability to emit ultraviolet light of a specific wavelength.

Ultraviolet rays cannot be observed by human eyes, so the brightness of the fly killer is not equivalent to the quality of the lamp. Moreover, the ability of the lamp tube to emit ultraviolet light of a specific wavelength will decrease with the use of the lamp tube. Even the best quality fly killer lamps will become less effective after a period of use. Therefore, how to assess the quality of the fly-killing lamp tube and when to replace it with a new fly-killing lamp tube is very important in the pest control work.

In the AIB audit, there is a requirement for the replacement of the fly killer lamp [the insect trap lamp should be replaced at least at the beginning of the active insect season each year or according to the manufacturers recommendation]. The audit teacher will also ask the factory for the Fly Lamp Lamp Inspection/Replacement Record Form” to evaluate the effectiveness of the maintenance of the fly lamp.

If you do not consider the cost, it is recommended to complete the replacement of all fly killer lamps in March-April each year, provided that your fly killer lamps can be effective for one year. A good quality lamp can be used for a long time, so when it needs to be replaced, it needs to be convincing enough.

Inspection standard”

Generally speaking, the most important of other competing light sources is sunlight. After testing, the strongest ultraviolet light intensity at noon is 3mv/cm2. The ultraviolet light tube should have at least 5Mw/cm2 light intensity to still maintain its effectiveness. If the light intensity of the lamp tube is lower than this value after inspection, it means that the lamp tube has failed and needs to be replaced.

When using the detector to monitor the UVA lamp, the lamp should continue to work for at least 5 minutes. Affected by the ambient temperature, it takes at least 5 minutes for the lamp to reach the normal UVA light output capacity.

“Setup Steps”

1. Remove the round cover of the light sensing area at the top of the front of the detector;

2. Lightly press the MEAS button in the middle of the front of the instrument to turn on;

3. Tap the RNG button at the bottom right corner of the display twice, you can see that the reading under natural light has 2 digits (0.00) after the decimal point, and the detectable light intensity is 0-19.99 mW/cm².

“Test Method”

1. Detect the maximum value in the tube.

Tap the MAX button at the bottom of the display screen so that the detector can record and display the highest UVA light intensity detected. Hold the detector so that the sensing area lightly touches the lamp tube and moves slowly.

2. Detect the value of a certain point in the tube

After taking the tester away from a certain point in front of the lamp tube, press the HLD key at the bottom left of the display screen lightly, and the data of this point will be displayed on the display screen.
